Crewe JE. BRINGING OUTSIDE AIR INSIDE: AN INEXPENSIVE SUBSTITUTE FOR OXYGEN THERAPY. JAMA. 1936;107(14):1125. doi:10.1001/jama.1936.92770400001011

Abstract
For many years, in cases of pneumonia or tuberculosis, and in a few cases of advanced cardiac diseases, I have used with excellent results the apparatus that is here described. The apparatus consists essentially of a small blower and a pipe about 2 inches in diameter. The blower is attached to an aperture in a board of adjustable length, so made that it can be fitted beneath a raised window. The pipe extends from the blower to near the patient's face. The middle portion of the pipe is rigid but can be made of adjustable length. To this portion of the pipe is attached a cord and counterweight. The cord runs through a hook or pulley that can be screwed into the ceiling or into an overhead frame. The ends of the pipe are flexible. Thus, the pipe can be hung in any convenient position.

The purpose of the apparatus, obviously is to supply gently moving outdoor air directly to the patient. In extremely cold weather, the patient chest is adequately protected and sometimes a woollen cap is worn. but it is rare for patients to complain of the cold air. They obtain so much relief from it that they object to having the air supply discontinued.

The chief advantage of the apparatus is that it can be used where oxygen is not available because of problem of transportation or of expense. The other advantage is that the atmosphere in the patient's room can be kept in a comfortable temperature and he lies or sits with his movements unhampered. by heavy bed clothes or a tent. Moreover it is sad to say that in many dwellings of our country the patient does not have a room to himself. In fact a large family must live in  one or two rooms. In such cases the atmosphere of the room must be kept warm in winter and is vitiated by heating stoves and by the breathing of other members of the family.

Those physicians those who practice in rural districts which have been hard hit in recent years will appreciate the circumstances which first suggested me an apparatus of the sort that has been described. I was called to see a child aged 5 years, who had pneumonia. The child was cyanotic and the air in the small, tightly closed home was very bad because of the crowded condition of the house and the  fumes from a kerosene stove. The outdoor temperature was 20F. I asked the father to find , if possible , a piece of 3 or 4 inch pipe. He was fortunate in finding an old boiler flue about 7 feet long. A hole, large enough to admit the pipe, was cut in  a board and the board was fitted snugly into a partly opened window. The cold air was rushed in and almost at once the cyanosis disappeared. The simple apparatus was used until the child recovered.

Since then, on occasions, I have reverted to this crude apparatus. For instance, in homes where electricity has not been available to operate the blower, I have used rain spout or any other pipe that could be procured and have fitted elbows to the external end of the pipe to catch the prevailing wind.

In one case, during an extremely hot spell, a patient aged 75 years, who had pneumonia, was experiencing great difficulty in breathing. With all windows open and several fans running, he was not relieved. The pipe was attached to a window, all other windows were closed, and as spray from a garden hose was directed past the inlet of the pipe. At once the breeze of cool, moist, outdoor air that was directed near the patient's face gave much relief from air hunger. After that experience I attached to the inlet of the pipe an automobile hot water heater and caused cold water to circulate through it.

Considerable experience over many years has convinced me that, by the methods described, most patients can be given all the oxygen they require, in nature's own mixture. Recently the apparatus was exhibited at the meeting of the Minnesota State Medical Association and attracted favourable interest, particularly among rural practitioners.

The Story of Attention & Suffering - the Principles of Healing with Attention by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

The Story of Attention & Suffering - the Principles of Healing with Attention by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Coordination between mind and body results in health.

Abnormality of function is due to abnormal coordination. When soul leaves the body there is no 100% coordination and hence the body decay.

Partial or lack of coordination leads to disease.

When there is attention, the coordination increases, there is more life energy and hence abnormality is eliminated.

If Executive never attends office or shop, the business begins to decay. Attention in all aspects improves whole business.

For the factory of the body, when the soul never gives attention, the organ starts crying.

When there is no attention, there is suffering to pull attention. When mind/soul starts giving attention, healing happens.

Attention of the mother strengthening the spirit of the child.

Bring the attention to the suffering organ to eliminate the abnormal function.

When we are meditating, we bring the attention from gross to subtle to transcendental to omnipresent.

Through meditation, When there is attention in all types of personality (gross and subtle nervous system), all gross and subtle layers will fuction very effectively. This is more than coordination between mind and body.

In meditation, there is not just attention, we create a situation that all gross and subtle organ system start fuctioning effectively. When we meditate, there is no need to focus on body but infinite.

When there is infinite(unlimited) awareness, the attention flows to all levels of body. The body opens to infinite spontaneously bringing attention to affected parts of the body.

Allowing the whole system function efficiently happens in meditation.

If a leaf begins to dry, it is a signal for the decay of whole tree, like petal to flower. When the Gardener starts attending to each leaf, it becomes impossible to bring life energy to every parts of tree or flower. There should be a method to connect with all organs.

If there is weakness in a limb, it is also associated with every part of the body. For such cases, Yoga Asanas-simple postures will help coupled with meditation which energizes the system from within.

We need to take care of body from physical, mental and gain energy from spiritual.

The Deep Secrets of Spiritual Effort by Dadi Gulzar and Dadi Janki.

The Deep Secrets of Spiritual Effort

The Deep Secret of Spiritual Effort: https://youtu.be/jUoGbHb3Wt0

1. The Stages of Spiritual Effort:

Beginning Soul Conscious stage is to experience peace, love and bliss.

At present (later stage) is to have the stage of world Benefactor in addition to Soul conscious stage.

2. Jwalamukhi stage is to transform the sanskars of self and others with the stage of light and might house.

3. Seed Stage is to be in essence without going into expansion.

To perform action being in Seed Stage to make the action powerful. If we dont remain in seed stage, we go into expansion.

Jwala mukhi stage pulls others attention towards it.

The main effort is to become soul conscious.

4. Body-less stage is to get lost in deep sweet silence combined with God's love.

First, the soul become silent, there is power to detach and withdraw. In body-less stage, we are at home (paramdham).

In sweet and deep silence, we dont realize how much time had  elapsed and we become free from body. This create a good influence - vibration. It will help people forget sorrow.

Even just a minute/second of silence will spread its effect  for a long time and  throughout the day it would keep pulling you.

I am not mind. Mind belongs to me. I am the master of the mind.

5. Four Types of Thoughts: Positive, Negative, Waste and Ordinary.

The speed of waste thoughts is fast. Negative thoughts is poison and it needs to be transformed immediately.

There are 1. Positive and 2. Negative thoughts. 3. Waste thoughts depletes lot of energy.

You receive energy when you never have waste thoughts. Positive thinking generates power.

Never remember own body or any other person.

Even 4. Ordinary thoughts by listening or speaking never make you great. The greatness become far distant. Ordinary thoughts lead you to waste thoughts.

6. Language of Eyes:

Our stage, vibration, feelings and attitude reflect in our language of eyes.

Rishis and Munis calm down even wild animals with drishti and our eyes with God's attainments and powers create wonders.

7. Power of Silence:

There is a difference between silence of subtle world and silence of Paramdham.

We need to taste-experience the silence of paramdham being here, to find the path of Home (soul world).

The power - current comes from soul world. Lightness comes from meeting Baba in subtle world.

There should not be leniency in my spiritual effort at any point of time. There should be constant attention.

Without the experience of deep silence of soul world, it is difficult to experience company of God (Baba) in subtle world and help others to come closer to Baba.

We become subtle by experiencing deep silence and by having company of God (Baba) in subtle world, then it becomes natural nature.

We have to do it. Not that we will do it or see about it.
